The Barony of Thor's Mountain has a large, formal throne used for Baronial and Royal court, but it isn't very portable, nor is it comfortable for sitting for several hours. For many years, the Baroness had been using an X-chair as a field chair to watch the tournaments, but over time it had worn out. There are a couple of weaknesses in that design, including a back attachment that wears out over about a five year period, and a seat that fails after about three. It had been repaired twice now, so I volunteered to construct a replacement for it. The piece is composed entirely of air-dried walnut. The totem animal of the Barony is a griffin, so I carved griffin heads into the finials of the arms. The carving on the back is the Baronial Device. The back of the chair fits into slots in the arms. When the back is removed, the rest of the chair can be folded into a smaller configuration for easier carrying and storage.
