Here
is a collection of alternate views of the royal footstools, together with some
commentary that didn't seem to fit very well in any of the other sections. Move
your mouse pointer across the face of the stool to access the different images.
For example in this view we get a clearer view of the rose-blossoms that make up
the "chaplet of roses counterchanged" called for in the device of the
Queen of Meridies. It is worthy of note that in most depictions of
heraldic roses, the center and petals can usually be defined. After much
discussion and several disappointing test runs, we determined that inlaying the
actual petals would take more time than we had available. We therefore
decided to depict the chaplet in silhouette.
