Materials - Royal Footstool, Meridies

Our choice of materials was dictated by Brother Michael's selections, as we wanted the footstools to match the Thrones.  Brother Michael elected to integrated the device of the Royal House into the structure of the thrones, themselves, so the project called for a light wood and a dark wood.  Michael choose maple to represent the argent and cherry to represent the sable.

In order to present a variation on the theme, we decided to make our stools entirely out of maple, and inlay the design in them.  To that end, we choose maple as the primary wood, and cherry as the accent.  Later, as will be discussed in the process section, we added a small amount of walnut, as well.
