Baronial Banner Rods

This project was at the behest of my Laurel, Master Saher Faux.  THL Solvieg Ericsdotter purchased four decorative banners for the Barony to display at our Business Meetings and Fighter Practices to identify us to passers-by.  I was asked to provide some attractive banner rods without spending too much time or money on them.  Accordingly, I purchased some commercial dowel stock and some wooden drawer pulls and two-ended screws.  After assembly, I stained them using a can of Minwax Golden Oak that I happened to have on a shelf in the shop.

  • Bayeaux Tapestry - The artisan executed this banner in the style of the Bayeaux Tapestry.
  • The Unicorn In Captivity - This banner is inspired by the Unicorn in Captivity, a well-known tapestry on display at the Cloisters Museum, in New York City.
  • Knight w. Lance - This is a modern illustration of a knight mounted cap-a-pie.
  • Stolen Moment - This is a modern illustration of two lovers.
  • Joint - This is a close-up of a joint typical of the project.
