Voxtorp Church Chest

The Voxtorp Church chest is a viking relic currently residing in the Statens Historiska Museum in Stockholm, Sweden (ref no. 4094). Found in Småland in Sweden, and dating from c. 1200, the Voxtorp chest is a good candidate for a beginner's project. With all straight cuts and simple joinery, the Voxtorp chest provides the novice with opportunities to learn to use measuring and marking tools, boring tools, cutting tools, and fasteners.

I discovered the Voxtorp Chest perusing the site of Sven Skildbiter, a fellow woodworker. It is from there that I have shamelessly swiped this particular image

Here are plans for a simple Voxtorp style chest.
