Horsing Around
The
next stage is shaving the blank to a uniform thickness, as the froe tears
the blank free of the balk, providing plenty of splinters and gouges in
the surface of the blank. One side needs only be roughed in, but
the second side needs to have a smooth surface to scribe the pattern.
The tools I'm using are a drawknife and a shave-horse.
