Pennsic XXX

Second Final Update: 8/30/01

I got sent a picture of myself teaching classes.  For the interested, click here. . . .

Final Update: 8/22/01

Well, Pennsic XXX is over, and was a qualified success.  The Black Lantern Troupe proper had a low turnout, and our ally, House Wild Rose, had a bad case of puppet burnout.  My strategy worked, however.  I scheduled a class on puppeteering just prior to each show, and then made my student perform at show time.  The shows were a little rough around the edges, but the students and the audience had a good time.

I, however, am fried.

Update: 5/19/01

Big News:  I just got the following e-mail from Cindy Cooper-Tracy, the merchant-crat for the great Pennsic War:

Dear Bill,

I'm holding space 50 for you.  Same placement as last year.

Thanks,
Cindy

So things are looking up.  The Theater is a "go" for this year.  Added to my list of Things to Do For the Great War are:

  • Borrow S-hooks from Tormod for Big Yeller
  • Purchase tubs for to pack Big Yeller.
  • Keyboard Shadow Puppet Script Set #2 and get it distributed.
  • Seal floor for Silver Beast so that it can be used as a tent floor or other pallet application.
  • Finalize class section

So far, Pennsic XXX is not going well.  First of all, our shining light in the abyss of cultural darkness, the Black Lantern himself, Master Saher Faux, is unable to attend this season.  So if the puppets make the trip, I will be in charge.  Tremble in fear.

Second, and worse, I screwed up the paperwork, and didn't make the merchant deadline for the war. Cindy has put us on a waiting list.  We may or may not have space this year.  I'll post here when we have further news.

But, space or not, I still intend to take a selection of scripts and puppets, and at least make a showing in the Performing Arts pavilion.
