The Black Lantern Puppet Troupe

Welcome to the Black Lantern Puppet Troupe Web Site.

As you might well imagine, we are very much under construction at this time.  As time passes, and time permits, this site will become more sophisticated as we endeavor to tell you more and more silly stuff about puppets and our people.

When I initially started the project, I had hoped to create a sort of objective, fact-based web site that my wise, beloved, and forgiving Laurel could use to promote medieval puppetry in general and his puppet shows in particular.  He would then pat me on the head, throw me an apprentice-snack, and all would be right with the world.

Alas.  As soon as I began composing the content, my own overbearing personality and love of performance began to impress itself on the site.  So it behooves me to post a disclaimer for ya'll.  I am Lord Will, and I am senior apprentice to House Black Lantern, and although the guiding thoughts and principles come from others, the words here are mine, and so is the point-of-view.  While I can't help splashing the rest of the house with the mud of my prose, since our name is all over the site, please give blame where blame is due.  If there is something inaccurate or offensive here, it is probably my fault.

To begin...

The House Black Lantern Household Manual - In here you will will find our code of conduct, such as it is, basic lessons on how to be a puppeteer, and other stuff as it comes to mind.
Voices in the Night - An Anecdotal Essay - Voices In the Night is just a few images of shadow puppets from our shadow puppet repertoire with a little explanatory text.
Look Out for the Quicksand! - An introduction to the operation of rod puppets.  The main traps to avoid and basic operating instructions.
Operating Shadow Puppets - This is an introduction to the basics of operating shadow puppets.
Tours - Here are the trips we are planning to take in the long-term and near future.
